Nashville, Tennessee. It’s a great place to live and raise a family. It’s also a lot of fun with free live music every night of the week.
Let’s take a look at some of the different neighborhoods in Nashville, how they feel and why they might appeal. Because let’s face it – what’s going to determine your choice on where to move, is what makes the neighborhood tick.
12Th south – or, where Reese Witherspoon’s store is located – is full of boutiques and restaurants. It‘s neighborhood-y and exclusive. It’s almost like another city on the city, around there and all through Hillsboro village. It is expensive, but it’s great real estate both to purchase and rent.
East Nashville – otherwise known as the “hippest” or “hippy-est” part of town – is a great place for young and old. It’s still growing in terms of neighborhood development, but the real estate is prime and there’s plenty to do. It’s also big enough from just north of downtown all the way up through Inglewood. It’s a great place to call home.
Of course there’s downtown, which is growing tremendously. It’s not just condo life, you can get houses with yards just a mile or two away from Broadway, which makes for great investment opportunity. Germantown is a great example with its lovely stores and some of the best restaurants in the city. North Nashville is also only a couple miles up and is developing quickly. North Nashville is a lot like New Orleans.
Finally, you get out to some of the suburbs like Hermitage and Old Hickory of you want to keep your commute to town under 30 minutes, or you could head out as far as Franklin and other parts Williamson County, which may take you an hour but get back into Nashville, but have plenty of attractive living space and things to do.
Middle Tennessee offers a lot of great living. Lake life, rivers, city life and straight country. We are a diverse bunch, and we welcome newcomers with open arms. Of course school districts or crime rates are things to pay attention to. My best advice is, when you pick a house – go to a website like Niche.com to find out how schools rate, and what the neighborhood crime rate is.
